What Is XRP?
XRP is a digital asset native to the XRP Ledger, a blockchain designed for fast, low-cost value transfers. Created by Ripple Labs, XRP aims to facilitate efficient movement of funds between parties and across borders, particularly for institutions and payment services. Because of its consensus protocol, transactions on the XRP Ledger can settle in seconds with minimal fees compared to many other networks.
Unlike some cryptocurrencies that primarily function as stores of value or programmable assets, XRP was built with a focus on speed and cost efficiency for payments. The XRP Ledger also supports decentralized exchange features and can settle other tokens and assets directly onchain.
XRP’s utility comes from its role as a bridge currency that can help convert between different fiat or digital assets, reducing liquidity friction in cross-currency transfers. Its design emphasizes throughput and scalability without energy-intensive mining.
KAST supports RLUSD, a stablecoin issued by Ripple.
