Decentralized Finance
Decentralized Finance (DeFi) refers to a broad ecosystem of financial applications built on blockchain networks that operate without traditional intermediaries such as banks, brokers, or payment processors. Instead of relying on centralized institutions, DeFi platforms use smart contracts to automate financial services directly on the blockchain.
Through DeFi, users can lend, borrow, trade, earn interest, or provide liquidity using crypto assets while maintaining direct control over their funds. Transactions are executed peer to peer and are typically transparent, programmable, and accessible to anyone with a compatible wallet and internet connection. Most DeFi applications run on public blockchains and are open source, allowing anyone to inspect how they work.
While DeFi offers greater autonomy and global access, it also places more responsibility on users, including managing private keys and understanding smart contract risks.
KAST complements the DeFi ecosystem by enabling users to move stablecoins from on-chain activity into real-world spending, bridging decentralized finance with everyday payments.
